My Garden

What - you don't think this is a picture of my garden!!!

Well!

You're right of course.... sigh - if only... if only. ;-)

Here's the real garden. Note the nice planter boxes that Merina, Antoon, and Fred (Merina's ex) helped build.

The seats are very handy for sitting and relaxing.

In the smaller one I have some Jerusalem artichokes (the tall plants) and behind them three thornless blackberry bushes. The blackberry bushes are still very small but will hopefully eventually fill the box. Yummmmmmmmm.

In the bigger box I have a row of scraggly tomatoes at the front - you can barely see them in this photo, and in the back a strawberry plant - but the darn crows are picking all the strawberries before they are even ripe! :(

Then there are the raspberry bushes - they are covered in berries and should be ripe in about a month or so. (Possibly less.)

Then there's my red currents - here you can see one of the pesky crows feasting. Luckily there are tons of the berries and I should be able to have at least some of them (have actually already had a few).

I picked a small bowls worth of black and red currents, gooseberries, and saskatoon berries and dad & I had them in pancakes this morning.
Mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm!

  1. Margaret, the planter boxes are quite nice! I hate crows...I wish I could somehow get rid of them all, as they EAT the little birds around here, and our little songbirds are disappearing. I hope you get something out of all your hard work!
